Lattu - Churi Ajeetgarh - Rajasthan - India

Bennu Divider

We were on holidays and staying at the Desert Nights hotel Mandawaand I found this small wooden spinning top among the remains of a fire while strolling in the streets of Churi Ajeetgarh village.

The darkened section of the body is genuine scorching from that event. After finding a suitable string, I tested it and was pleasantly surprised to discover that it still spins extremely well.

Its age and origin remain unknown, but the wear on the wood suggests that it had already been used before it was damaged. We were both fortunate: I gained a remarkable addition to my collection, and this humble little top was saved from being lost and forgotten.
